Stars without Make-up

Rihanna

People magazine got some of today's hottest celebs to take pictures sans make-up. I am somewhat intrigued to see celebs in bare faced, just to see that they have imperfctions, too. However, usually those that opt to participate in photoshoots like this often look quite lovely without make-up. Anyhow, here are a couple of the pictures that I thought were beautifully done!

Drew Barrymore

Rashida Jones

Rosario Dawson

What a beautiful...dress?!

When I first saw this BCBG Max Azria dress, I thought "Dress. Yeah Right!" This looks just like a night gown I had when I was a little girl. Everytime I used to wear it, I felt so beautiful! However, if I saw someone wearing this out and about, I would instantly confuse this very beautiful dress for a nightgown. Am I alone?!

Wish you were here!

Hola, chicas! I am sorry, but there will be not a Weekend Overload this week. Yesterday evening, I got a last minute offer to fly to Miamin for the weekend and tickets to tonight's Cavs/Heat game. That doesn't happen everyday, so when it does you have to jump at the offer. Right?! I hope you all would do the same if it was you!

Anyway, I don't have the time and, truthfully, the desire to sit in my hotel room and type today. Therefore, visit some of my favorite blogs and find in your heart to forgive me! Pretty Please!

Well, I need to go, because it looks like rain is coming tonight so I need to go get all the sun I can! See ya Monday!

The End to End Project

Siloette is an U.S based grafitti artist whose illustrative style of character and letter painting has made her one to watch, with an incredible use of color and unique flowing style

Siloette has transformed the tennis classic of the Stan Smith to create a feminine and tasteful model. Mint green satin sockliner and tongue details contrast well with the bold black and white base colours. Inspecting the outsoles, reveals typical and stunning, full colour Siloette artwork in contrast to the clean styling of the upper. Fluid lines on the upper present Siloette's distinctive style. Black tips offset with the green laces and the special tag lace jewel finish the shoe in characteristic style.

The End to End Project: A Unique Collaboration Over a period of three days, the artists worked around the clock in a custom-built creative environment to produce the artwork for this distinctive collection. In gathering the artists together under one roof, adidas and Foot Locker created a new process in developing graffiti-based designs. For their world-class workshop, adidas and Foot Locker gutted a large warehouse in East London's hip Spitalfields area, then remodeled the space to produce the ideal creative environment. Enormous white canvases and a full range of "tools of the trade" - spray paint cans, nozzles, markers, paint brushes and anything the artists could possibly need - was provided so they could focus on their craft. The remarkable results offer designs that embody the creativity, the collaborative spirit, and the artistic beauty envisioned by the End to End project.

I must say that I am so feeling these shoes! Cute, chic, and different, all the things that I love in shoes!

For more info on the other Graffiti artists involved in End to End Project please log on to their website and MySpace page!

Am I Missing It?!

Seriously, are bags with car logos one of the next big things. Last week when I posted a 'Yay or Nay' with a Cadillac bag, Silly me, I just assumed that the bag was just another conversation piece in the form of fashion that wouldn't get that far in many closets. Kind of like my purse from 5 years ago when I was in college that looks like a chinese take-out box. Girls, did I get alot of people stopping me about that. However, eventually everyone had one so I had to retire it. Currently, mine is sitting nice and safe in the top of my closet in hopes that it will make a comeback. I doubt it!

Anyway, is it safe to say that in the near future will we not be only matching our bags to outfits, but to our cars?! What is next, Honda necklaces and Lexus belts? Come on Toyota, mama needs a new pair of shoes to match her car!

Well, if that is the case, those of us not in Caddys have to wait and let the Caddy Chicas get the leg up in this one. Believe me when I type, I AM NOT MAD!!

For you Caddy Girls:

Cadillac Tote Bag, $56, Ebag; Cadillac Large Canvas Carrying Bag, $64, Ebags; Cadillac Large Metallic Tote Bag, $96, Patricia Field; Cadillac Large Logo Overnight Bag, $48, Ebags

I love all the sizes and shapes, but the logos are killing me!

Colorblockin'

I haven't really embraced the whole "mod" look that was has been very popular this season. I dabbed here and there with black and white shift dresses and a couple of pair of flats. However, I will admit that I am really loving colorblock colored dresses. What is up with me and dresses this season?

Anyway, I bought a colorblock dress this weekend and I wore it this morning to the doctor's office (Reason for the late post) and I received quite a handful of compliments on my turqoise, pink, and black colorblock dress. Therefore, I have found a couple of more that have me smiling in hope to get another colorblock dress and maybe you, too!

Aka New York Colorblock dress, $298, Active Endeavors; INC International Concept Color-Block Dress, $89.99, Macy's; Marc Jacobs Camille Colorblock Dress, $139, Active Endeavors; Ella Moss Margot Silk Colorblock Dress, $280, Eluxury

Is it just me or is this a great first attempt at sewing a stylish dress? I have a feeling the forever fab Erica B. has something to say about that idiotic notion I have!!

Review: Aveeno Radiance Moisturizing Lotion

Well, with the weather warming coming on strong(sorry for those of you on the east coast), it's about that time to start looking for a good summertime moisturizer that enhances the tone of my skin. Basically, a healthier alternative to tanning and the color washing that most self tanners give.

Last weekend, I decided that it was about that time that I partake in my annual trip to load up on my beloved Jergen's Shimmer Enhancing Moisturizer to prepare my skin for the skin showing weather. However, as I was waddling to the checkout with my four bottle of Jergens, a unique and brown bottle caught my eye: Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion.

First off, the bottle design is very unique, because it has two different chambers and a dial that allows you to "customize" natural tone to achieve your natural darkened shade. I'm on the third click, for the record! Aveeno also claims that the lotion will smooth out your skin's imperfections. That alone had me grab one and take it to the checkout line.

So, I have been using it for well over a week and I must admit that it did gradually deepen my complexion while smoothing it out. Love it! The lotion itself is very light and quickly absorbed into my skin, which was left soft, smooth, and well moisturized. Plus, no fake tan marks!

In the end, I highly recommend that you experience this for yourself. It is a little pricey compared to most drugstore moisturizers, but it does exactly what it said it would! I'm addicted!

Working Fabolously: Denim Trousers

I love trousers and their ability to be dressed up or down. Currently, I am addicted to wearing manly wide leg trousers with cute little flirty tops and a random pair of Converse. Also, I couldn't imagine my life without jeans. Basically, who can?! With that in mind, it seems befitting that I LOVE denim trouser.

Personally, I believe that every woman needs a pair of denim trousers in her "work wear" closet. Why, you ask? Well, because they are perfect for those casual Fridays that most companies offer. When I use to work in an corporate atmosphere, it would irk me when women would just dress so slumpy and look like they were on their way to the gym just because it was casual friday. Girls, look like you're trying to earn money!!

The cuts of denim trouser are the same cuts and styles that most of your suit's pants offer. Hence the name denim trousers. However, they also offer that comfort and casual feel that makes me love denim more and more each and every day!

On your next casual friday, opt to pull out a pair of casual, yet work friendly trouser jeans. Here are few for you to ponder and possibly add to your budding wardrobes!

First Row: AG Denim Trousers, $189, Anthropologie; Citizens of Humanity Phoebe Trousers, $211, Saks; Striped Denim Trousers, $44.50, Lane Bryant

Second Row: Truck Jeans Crosshatch Trousers, $19.99, Alloy; William Rast 'Savoy' Stretch Denim Trousers, $242, Nordstrom; Truck Jeans Wide Waist Trousers, $19.99, Alloy

Check out my post over at E-Stylist for an idea of a perfect springtime look for casual fridays that includes denim trousers!

Fashion D.O.A: Blu Cantrell

I 'm not even going to talk about how she always finds an invitation on almost every red carpet out there. However, I will talk about she had the audacity to wear this get up in front of photographers.

She has so much going on that its too much! The hat gold lurex knit "hat", the hair in her face, the tights that match the 'hat', and the shoes that just make her look ridiculous. Plus, it doesn't help that she looks sort of high!

Blu Cantrell

Unfortunately, the fug doesn't stop at the clothes. Check out her nails!!! Ladies, chipped polish is NEVER a good look, let alone on a red carpet in front of a gaggle of photographers. Especially, if you are using this event as publicity to keep you name out there, Blu!

I'm done. I can't take anymore!

Spring Trend Watch: White Wedges

I have a small fascination brewing in my personal shoe department in the form of white wedges. It's really weird considering that I am not the biggest fan of white shoes, let alone wedges. When I wear wedges with shorts, skirts, or cropped pants, I feel that they give the illusion of wider ankles and calves. Never a good look!!

I think I am getting over that idea, because I have been lusting for a pair for a minute now. Here are a few that I am LOVING!!!

Nine West 'Neews', $69.99, Nine West; Hype 'Samosa' Eyelet Wedges, $143.95, Zappos; On Your Feet 'Brea' Wedges, $80.95, Zappos; Steve Madden 'Sinfull' Wedges, $111.56, Zappos; Guess 'Labras' Wedges, $89.95, Nordstrom

Get Your Popcorn Ready: Smokin' Aces

Today the movie Smokin' Aces hits the shelves and it's one of those adrenaline filled movie that will keep you glued to the screen...definitely. The plot of the movie is a group of assassins descend to Lake Tahoe to kill mob witness Buddy 'Aces' Israel after a Mafia don places a six-figure price on his head. FBI agents are also there to keep Aces alive, long enough to testify. That's where the adventure begins

The movie stars a long list of actors including Ben Affleck, Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Piven, and Andy Garcia, to name a few. Also, it stars Common in his first big screen appearance and Alicia Keys as street assassin Georgia Sykes.

Throughout the movie, Georgia Sykes is not just known for her street smarts and assassin skills, but also her wardrobe and style. She donned everything from tall dominatrix boots with fishnet stockings to a fur bolero that covers her gun holster. Plus, I shouldn't forget to acknowledge how she rocks the 'it' hair style of the moment; big bangs!

However, the thing that most intrigued me about her wardrobe is her jumpsuit, which is the epitomy of the phrase "Dressed to Kill".

Since jumpsuits are all the rage now, it seems appropriate for me to focus in on that piece of wardrobe. As if I haven't posted enough jumpsuit related stories! Jumpsuits are perfect for those adventurous days that require you to run all over the place trying to kill a mob witness while looking fab at the same time! I guess you can keep that in mind the next time you find yourself in the same situation!

Anyway, the movie comes out on DVD today and is definitely a good one to get. Plus, there is alternate ending. I love when DVDs give alternate endings than the one that was in theaters! It makes me feel more interested inbuying although I saw it in the theaters.

Since I love you all so much and I know that you might be a little bored at work, here is a simple yet addictive game that allows you to join in the "fun" of hunting Aces yourself! Have fun and don't forget to go buy the movie yourself!

That 80s Post!

I am proud to say that I was made in the 80s, 1981 to be exact! Anyway, I was not that into fashion in the 80s, because I was more focused on making sure that my Barbie, Christie, and Skipper dolls were continuously fly. However, I did take notice of all the clothes that the teens were wearing and wanting.

I will never forget the first time that I got my first pair of hot pink/black/white L.A Gears with three different color shoelaces and the cropped light blue L.A Gear jean jacket. You better believe that I will never forget about all those stone washed jean skirts I had lined in the bottom of my little walk-in closet, especially the one with the three tiers and I could remove each tier via a heavy duty brass zippers that wrapped around the skirt. Although they were pretty fresh and dope back then, I don't know if I would have the guts and glory to bring those items back.

If my closet saw me approaching with ANYTHING stone or acid wash, it would close itself and lock me out! I wouldn't be shocked, because I trained it to do so!

Anyway, notice my shock as I was browsing Target's website and wandered across this dress. Flashback to when I was around 7 years old and watching family friend's 'tricia and Tajuana getting dolled up for their junior high and high school dances. Basically, girls and women looked like walking wedding cakes in the eighties! Who wants to look like a big cake?? Better yet, who decided that this would be a dress to bring back?? Oh...Isaac Mizrahi.

Don't get me wrong, I have never had a problem with fashions from the yesteryears coming back ever now and then, however, some of the things need to say in the past. Example, this poofy, pastry party dress.

But ladies, the 80's flashback hasn't been to stifled to just the clothing department.

As I was indulging in my daily stipend of Hip Candy on day, I noticed that the always on fashion watch Chanel spotted that the make-up from the 80s is slowly creeping back; case in point, the hot pink lips that Miss Bee was rocking on The Today Show. I tried on a few shades of bright pink lipsticks this weekend thanks to M.A.C's Barbie collection. I must warn you, you might want to invest in a good teeth whitening system, because the color made my usually sparkling white teeth look "mother of pearl" white. Not a good look!

Ladies, seriously, are you ready to take on the challenge of having to be responsible for starting the whole fashion sense of poofy dresses, bright colored clothes, faces, and the stacks and stacks of cheap and clancky bangles that stop at our elbows? Well, I can't hate on bangles just yet!

Weekend Overload: Friday The 13th!

The past couple of weekends that I had free turned out to be a disaster in the weather department. A couple of weekends ago, it was storming like crazy for all of that Saturday and well into Sunday and the other weekend required me to take the garment bag off one of my coats, which I thought was put away for the rest of the year.

However, this weekend looks like it's going to be quite different....cold and rainy!! Therefore, I am going to spend this evening finishing up some work (the life of freelancing), doing some looks for E-Stylist (I've been slacking over there), and doing some post for here! The Polish Saga Continues

So, for the past week I have been rocking hot pink polish on my toes. However, I was still in limbo about what I should do about my fingernails. Hot pink on the toes is alright, because they are hardly seen. Hot pink on my nails, however, might be fine for the weekend, but during the week I need something a little more demure. Step in my fav nail polish line... Nubar!

I received Nubar's Summer Breeze Collection in the mail yesterday and I think I have found my nail polish options for the rest of spring and summer. The collection consists of 6 sheer summer inspired polishes that are infused with touches of pink, which equals perfect for spring and summer! To top it off, the collection comes with their AWESOME Diamont Top Coat. Love it!!!

I love the Summer Breeze shade! It's a really sheer pink polish with slight speckles in that reflect like crazy in the sun. Definitely the polish you want on your toes for those sandal days!

Seashell is a really soft pink, to where it is almost white. Its perfect for french manicure tips, however I polished my entire nails with it. It's like doing a 180  from last season's trend of darker the better. I think that all white nails are very chic and mod, as long as they are not bright, "white-out" white.

View the rest of the collection here!

Jumpsuits are all the rage right now. Yours truly has even taken keen to them and I'm strongly considering getting one.

One of you lovely visitors asked over in the shout box where to get a going out jumper/playsuit. I think of jumpsuits as I would a simple, colored dress. You can dress it down or up, it just depends on the accesories you choose. So, to give you an understanding of what I am talking about, here is a look that involves a jumpsuit that is accesorized to make it an outfit perfect for painting your town!

Iisli Jumpsuit, $278, Neiman Marcus; Long Circles with Dangling Rhinestone earrings, $12.99, GirlProps; Artic Ice Cuff, $18, All the Rage; Linea Paolo 'Geri' Slingback Pumps, $109.95, Nordstrom; Colossal Crystal Necklace, $24, All The Rage; Lodis Patent Leather Clutch, $132, Nordstrom

Touch of Crochet

Crochet always remind me of my chica dias and my mom use to sit on the porch in the summer and make these beautiful crochet pieces, especially throws! The one she made me was a light and dark purple throw which crochet flowers in each square. I didn't really appreciate the cuteness of it until I lost it. How did I lose it? I still don't know! However, the memories are still there.

Although crochet is usually associated with cooler weather, I am really fond of it all year round. One way to embrace crochet is with pieces trimmed with the wonderful craftsmanship. Apparently, it's not that hard to find clothes with touches of crochet. It makes me wonder, does crochet detail ever go out of style?

Anyway, here are a couple of examples.

Cotton Crochet Halter Top, $38, Banana Republic; Crochet Strap Top, $38, Banana Republic; BCBG Max Azria Long Evening Gown, $270.99, Bluefly; Crochet Hobo, $68.90, Nordstrom; Paradise Braided Razor Back Top, $59, Baby Phat; Striped Crochet Tunic, $79, Baby Phat; Crochet Coco Belt, $9.99, Fusion Boutique; MICHAEL Michael Kors 'Tied-Up' Ankle Wrap Sandal, $128.95, Nordstrom; Tory Burch Rory Crocheted Ballerina Slipper, $225, Neiman Marcus; Ella Moss 'Penny' Trapeze Top with Crochet Trim, $72, Nordstrom; BCBGirl Gold Crochet Trim 'Marrakech' Shopper, $59.99, Bluefly

Baby Phat's Jewel of the Nile

Kimora Simmons is known for her flamboyant and lavish lifestyle of diamonds, furs, and vast collection of Louis Vuitton. She lives and breathes a life of 'Fabulosity', which we 'normal' fashionistas can try and live, visually, via her Baby Phat empire.

Every season, Baby Phat tries to release an exclusive and extravagant item that is usually drenching in diamonds and exotic animal skin for a limited time. In the past, such limited items have included cell phones, Sidekicks, and watches.

Continuing in this annual event, this year, Kimora & Co. are releasing a limited edition sneaker called The Jewel of the Nile.

The shoes feature a 1 carat diamond bezel on the side, 14 carat gold emblem, colorful anaconda snake skin, and only 100 are being manufactured. Basically, continuing on the tradition of extravagence! Anyway, all that can be yours for the price of $1000!!!

Quick question, where in the world would someone wear such a pair of sneaker?! Mall? Grocery Store? Gym? Club?

What do you think?

Hot Pink Power!

It was just a few days ago when I was declaring that my current nail polish of choice is going to be hot pink after falling for the color on La Lohan. When I went to the spa this weekend, I got a super hot pink pedicure. I received a handful of compliments as I waddled to the car afterwards. It's a good choice, ya'll should try it out!

However, hot pink is not stopping at the nails in the beauty department. Be prepared to have the option of not only hot pink nails, but also hot pink lips, eyelids, and cheeks.

As I was watching Beyonce perform on the 'Today' show, I couldn't help but notice the slick, hot pink residue on her lips in the form of a super shiny lip gloss. It's not neccesarily my thing, but to each her own. However, if you are itching to try this trend, I have pulled a couple of products that could help you out!

Lancome Color Fever Gloss in Mercury Rising, $22

Smashbox O-Glow, $26..not as soft as they claim

Alison Raffaele Inner Glow Blush in Sheer Hot Pink, $12.50

Sue Devitt Silky eyeshadow in Jaipur, $18
