The video/artist that made me embrace my natural curls

Kelis is one of those artists that doesn't get the creative and out the box that they deserved. After seeing this 'Milkshake' video during my final/senior semester of college, it made me more that happy to start wearing my natural curls. Unfortuantely, they didn't look as fab as Kelis', but they do now. The Tasty album that features Milkshake was a great album to way from beginning to end. I might just have to go home this afternoon and search for that pink and sugary looking album. For now, let's just enjoy some "Milkshake".

BTW, Kelis is releasing a greatest hits album simple titled Kelis-The Hits on March 11, 2008.

The Stunner Collection from Nixon

Nixon is just one of those subtly fly labels that I love, especially their Vega watches(I have one in white). Their latest women's collection, fantastically titles Stunner collection, features futuristic, yet retro looking pieces, prints, and shapes in the form of hot pink and silver watches, totes, and even hip sacks. That hot pink Vega...is...the...business...and my future.

Jewelry from Paradise

Girls, you already know how much I love gold jewelry and based on my recent jewelry posts, I have really been loving delicate, yet different jewelry. Needless to say, I am loving the pieces from Alliway, which is based in Honolulu.

Alliway's jewelry is classic and delicate, but also "delicate chunkiness" (My new favorite semi-oxmoronic phrase).  All the pieces are gorgeous, but I am falling head over ears for the earrings. The third pair in the bottom row above...calling my name and doing a hula! They would look perfect with almost any spring dress you have fashionably acquire. I love that "delicate chunkiness" earrings!

Big Words, Big Fun

Last week, I finally got my unmanicured paws on the new MOB fafi tee that has every fly fashionista feenin'. Well, after lustfully wearing it this weekend, I'm so officially hooked on MOB. So, I think that I need a MOB jacket next and this Big Words hoodie is so fabulously blunt. As fab as it is, you might just want to be careful about where you wear it. You know!

Frank and Kahn Silk Scarves

In preparation for spring and summer, I have decided to wear my hair naturally curly. So, that has lead me to start my semi-annual search for hair accessories that will help keep my well hopefully well moistured curls at bay from my face. I have been looking for wide and embellished headbands and beautiful print scarves and Frank and Kahn makes both of them, beautifully!

Frank and Kahn are known for their beautiful hair accesories, buy have decided to add gorgous, silk print scarves to their already incredible catalog. Seriously, to not have a print scarf in the spring and summer is to not have a full wardrobe for the season and why not have that scarf come from Frank and Kahn?!

Frank and Kahn scarves and headbands can be found at one of my favorite stores to haunt...Nordstrom! Ugh, I just love wide headbands!!

Oscar de la Renta Fall 2008 collection

After spending the past couple of days mourning the loss that my Tigers took Saturday against the stankfest that are Tennessee Vols, I wasn't sure what it was going to take to get me back to my fabulous wanna-be self. Well, leave it to Osar de la Renta to bring my spirits from glum to glam with the help of a plethora of chic and sophisticated purple pieces for the fall thanks to the fabulous world of Coutorture.

This collection continues with Oscar's continuously theme of perpetuating the the idea of strong women and I love it. The deep purple, the strong fabrics, and the dazzling details have all the makings of another gorgeous collection from fashion mastermind.

Prada's Runway Collection

For the past month, I have been oogling at and about these Prada Flower-Heel Mary Janes and gold Wavy Heel Mary Jane from Prada's runway collection. They are so breathtakign to me and look extremely delicate to hold let alone walk in. My dear college(GO TIGERS!) alum Marissa recently received her pair and they are equally if not more fabulous in person. So much so, Marissa has decide not keep them in the box. She has instead given up space on one of the shelves in her closet to place them on so she and others who have the chance to go ihn her closet can see them, but NOT TOUCH them. She was very stern on that one!!

I don't blame her, because they are gorgeous!

Who Owns It?...Jessica v. Naomi in Dolce & Gabanna

Back in January while doing promo for Awake, Jessica Alba paired a grey flannel skirt with a Dolce & Gabanna tee featuring Steve McQueen. Earlier this week, Naomi Campbell was doing the London Fashion Week circuit while wearing the same D&G tee paired with a jeans and a fitted white blazer. Both of the ladies are casually chic, but which do you prefer; Jessica's skirted look or Naomi's denim and blazer look? Who Owns It!

BTW, when I saw Jessica wearing that tee on TRL, I was instantly obsessed with finding one. At the time, I could only find it in a small and there was no way me and "my girls" were going to squeeze comfortably in Dolce & Gabanna small. FYI, D&G tends to run on the slim/small side.

Stila does Asia

Last week, I had the pleasure of receiving a gift of some of Stila's Asia collection and I must say that ese chica was more that thrilled!

The soft, yet subtle shades of pinks help to give a fresh and romantic glow, especially the pon pon gerbera cheek color. It adds a shimmery morning glow that looks gorgeous on most if not all complexions. To complete a fresh and natural look along with the cheek color, you should definitely grab a tube of Stila's lip glaze from the collection. Stila makes some one of the best lip glosses out there with their lip glaze. Shiny, but not with all that stick residue that can kill your look on a windy day!

Anyway, if you are still trying to come up with your spring make-up look, then you should definitely go sniffing around Stila. Might I add, that although it's not part of the Asia collection, you should also try out the Cherry Crush lip and cheek stain. Trust me, fabulous and fresh look all day!

Baby Phat's Monamour Hi

Today, while I was for the Macy's sales associate to bring my Steve Madden pumps from the back (see post below), I spotted these hi-tops from Baby Phat. Since I am die hard Converse worshipper, I tend to snare and stick my nose up at anything shoe that resembles the sexiness that I always see in Converses. I will admit that these were not that bad looking. I loved the cute little heart and ribbon charm that hangs on one of the double tongues of the shoe. The sateen fabric and the leather is not that overbearing. However, I was not feeling the hi top style. If it was in a low, I might have actually picked up a pair, but they don't make them in a low top. Still wortha a look.

Day off = Cute, clearance pumps

There is nothing more relaxing and joyful than to have a job that allows me to be off on Mondays and/or Tuesdays. So, today, I took a mini shopping trip to enjoy the pleasantly breezy and sunny weather. Since this is one of the last days of all the stores President's Day sales, I had to see were there any stylish scores I could make.

The first and main stop I made was in Macy's. I picked up a cute little CC Skye inspired chain braclet for $7.20, but my prize find were a pair of Steve Madden 'Naomi' pumps for $23! There look sooo much better in person compared to the above picture thanks to the patent leather straps and detail and gold hardware. They are so perfect, because the go with any style and the peep toe and black patent leather/fabric makes them great for transitioning from the cool weather days to the early warm days of spring! Great investment! I will warn you that the heel is kinda high, but its really comfortable due to the wide heel.

So, I suggest you make a stop by your nearesst Macy's today to see if you can score a stylish shoe from the clearance section.

Prada & Stripes

Happy Presidents Day! What is a more fabulous way to celebrate Prez Day than spending dead prez on a fabulous slice of Prada. In particular, spend them on Prada's Nappa Stripes Multicolor Tote and/or small hobo. Multicolored, swiggly stripes are just the difference a girl needs in her handbag collection. Something different, but with a stylish twist or should I type wiggle?

Too many colors, then you can always opt for the Nappa stripes tote or hobo in a solid color. Gotta love Prada!

Elyse Jeanne Jewelry

I know I am not the only person to ever see a piece of jewelry on a celeb and wonder where they got it and for how much. Unlike clothing, jewelry can be hard to name the designer on first glance or even get an idea of who makes it. Well, I was in huffy trying to find the information of a necklace that The Hills' star Audrina Partridge was wearing to a premiere of Legally Blonde: The Musical. Anyway, the necklace was this delicate, little gold necklace with a nice size amethyst dangling. I searched the sites of the stores that line celeb shopping hotspot in L.A, Robertson Avenue and even hit up a few of my fashion insiders. Nada. I eventually found a similar one, but it was not as simply beautiful as Audrina's.

So yesterday, I received an email about a jewelry collection by designer Elyse Jeanne. So, still being a in jewelry loving and stalking mood, I was more than happy to go browsing around the site. One of the first links I clicked was the press, which I always tend to do. As I was scrolling, I stopped and let out a nice "Oh my God, that's the necklace!" from my work desk. There was the picture of Audrina wearing the necklace that I stared at everyday for almost two weeks! I would know that necklace when I see it and Elyse Jeanne designed it all along with other fabulous and delicate and desireable pieces.

All of Elyse's jewelry looks delicate and well-crafted, but with a little extra edge thanks to chunk and soft colored stones. I have really been in a necklace loving funk, so I am really adoring her necklaces, especially the longer ones! Beautiful.

To see more of Elyse Jeanne's line, visit her website.

Kim Kardashian goes Bongo

Kim Kardashian is the latest spokesmodel for the youthful and trend stalkiing Bongo line. She is the latest celebulite to be featured in the lines ads. She follows in the expensive heels and footsteps of Nicole Richie.

"I'm not your typical stick-skinny model," she says. "There are super-skinny girls doing ad campaigns and I don't think it's realistic. I don't like that [skinny] body image. I'm very proud of my body image."

The ads are for Bongo's Spring collection.

Bryna Nicole Sping 2008

Just yesterday, I was breezing through some of my fav stores trying to gather as many basic white tops and tees as my wallet could afford to prepare for my transitional outfit from winter to spring of jeans and white tops. As I have preached and threatened of 2.4 billion times, the best way to slap the boring out of a boring outfit is through accessories, preferably a big, bold, stylish bag. Needless to say, Bryna Nicole's bags can do that and then some.

Bryna's design philosophy goes:

"My ultimate design goal is to create a stylish handbag collection that portrays the mood of the woman carrying the bag. This mood can be confident and strong, innocent or playful - it is always a little funky and somewhat functional. The woman that I design for has a strong personal style and is fashionable and worldly. She appreciates fine fabrics and detailed construction. Items are meant to last from season to season, rather than fade with the latest trends. They are classic yet expressive and can represent personal changes in style from one outfit to the next."

You can never have too many bags, especially if they are truly chic and provide effortless style to any look you concoct. I'm not even a fan of lime green anything, but that lime green bag would be quite the eye catcher with a chocolate brown ensemble! There I go again...daydreaming looks!

To see more bags from Bryna Nicole, including from her previous collections, visit her site and get to browsing and buying!

Clinique's Nude Blush Sping 2008

Monday, as I was taking a pleasant stroll through Macy's to the Clinique counter to pick up a new compact of City Base Compact Foundation in Almond Beige, I couldn't help but to be intriqued by Clinique's Spring 2008 collection called Nude Blush.

I love nude colors when I want to look natural and almost make-up free and blush colors when I want to look natural, but flirty. So, I assumed the idea that the line would mix those two for me had me practically climbing to get up in that white and sterilized looking chair at the Clinique counter to get a test drive of the collections.

I got the whole Nude Blush experience which epitomized what I love to look like in the spring; fresh, flirty, and natural. My favorite product that the pleasant counter chick used from the collection was the Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick in Deep Bloom. If you have tried Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick, then you already know how suppple it feels and looks on your lips, but the Deep Bloom is a deep pink with hints of soft pinks that adds a "bitten" hue to your lips. Naturally chic. Think Rachel Bilson in all her natural and classic candids! Yes, ladies! Loved it. Bought it. Wearing it.

The other thing that had me doing some quick and fuzzy math in my head to see if I had enough to buy it was the Blushing Blush Powder Blush in Limited Bare Pinks. The Limited Bare Nudes looked more my love in the compact, but they completely washed out and disappeared on my complexion. I will admit that I was a little hesitant about the deep pink of one of the Bare Pinks blush, but once on my face I knew I was in love and confident that I found my sping staple blush. It was soft and feminine and epitomized my spring look! It even sounds funny to type, but it gave me the glow of just being slapped. Think girl fight, but without all the scratching and hair pulling. Make-up, not war!

Spring Staples...Unique, yet chic jewelry from Emory K. Holiday

Just like with your clothes and shoes wardrobe, your jewelry wardrobe should change with each season. Spring jewelry should be delicate and add to your outfit, not take away. Don't get me wrong, you should have some pieces in your collection that are somewhat conversation pieces, but still not too overbearing. Emory K. Holiday's latest collection of jewelry is filled with just enough touches of spring staples in the form of classic jewelry with unique details and design.

I really loved all the earrings in their fabulous daring and dangling form. My fav is the Tuxedo Locket earrings, because they feature different shape lockets (I swoon for lockets!) and since the colors are sterling silver, mother of pearl, and onyx they go with practically everything! I adore the Roaring 20s necklace with the three rows of chunky onyx, but the Hearts of Leather necklace is just too fabulously different and drenched in potential conversations to not want! Its available in 13 colors, including lemon which is perfect for this season of must-have yellow! Seriously, I need that leather necklace!

Eye Spy...Hilary's Bag

Yesterday, Hilary Duff was seen leaving the hairdresser carrying the Louis Vuitton Olympe Nimbus PM bag. A friend and fellow LV worshipper scrimped and saved for months to get this bag and she has not let it out of her sight in the past month. Its made with lambskin and feels so ridiculously soft for it to be leather! Great traveling purse, because it is super roomy and can double as a pillow! Although, it might be safe to be make-up free if you get tempted!

Antoinette Lee Designs' Summer Collection

Antoinette Lee Designs makes this chic and classic bags that are designed and geared toward fashion-forward women. Some of her bags have been featured under the arms of Hayden Panitierre, Keri Russell, and Nicole Richie.

Her summer '08 collection is simple, yet chic. The Stella  in Gray/White stripes and the white leather dolcita are my favs.  The stripe print would go fabulous with this soft pink dress that I have been having the hardest time trying to create a look with that didn't look so Easter Sunday...ya know? I think one of these bags would do the trick. Oh, how I wish I could get my manicured paws on one! Plus, they can fashionably carry you from the spring into the summer into early fall. Gotta love a bag that can take you places!

TJ Maxx S/S 2008

So, TJ Maxx is in agrees with me and countless others that bold and bright colors are the way to this season in the form of flirty pieces and accessories. Also, you can't go wrong with some geo print in your life and closet.

Five items you can't live without this spring that can be found at TJ Maxx:

  • A beautiful dress in a colorful print.
  • A cropped jacket in a plaid, print or floral design.
  • A pair of wide-leg pants; cotton, denim or light-weight linen.
  • A metallic or patent 'ombre'  leather satchel; bigger is better.
  • A really great pair of shoes; patent leather sandals or ankle-tie wedges.

I totally agree! More looks that can be copped at your nearest TJ Maxx after the jump!

Romancing the Shoes...Nike Dunks

Smell that? Yeah, that's all that calorie filled chocolate and destined to die soon roses that are being prepped to be delivered and given for V-Day this Thursday. Although, I am certain to not to be expecting anything, if I could get a box of romantic goodness I would definitely want that box to be filled with these red and white Nike Lo Dunks with red lace applique. Unlike chocolate, they won't add any calories. Hell, if you use them right, they can help you lose some! Roses are beautiful and smell just as beautiful, but let's face it, they don't make to the end of the week and each day that goes by they start looking more and more depressing as the darken and droop. If maintained right, these dunks can brighten up your days and foot game for years! Romantic sneakers...fabulous!

When it rains, it "pores"!

Just in case you haven't heard, earlier this week, here in Memphis and surrounding areas throughout Tennessee, Arkansas and Missisippi, we got  touched by a cluster of tornadoes. It was horrific, especially the aftermath which included numerous deaths and damages. My heart and sure yours as well goes out to all those who have been affected by the storms.

Fortunate for my family and I, none of us were in the roughly hit areas, but that didn't exclude me from taking shelter in my bathroom with my cat, Skeeter. When there are sirens loudly and continously blaring, thunder clapping, and lights flickering out frequently, you run out of many options to pass the time and storm.

After flipping through my Nylon mag for the upteenth time, mixing and creating new lip gloss colors and getting as much joy as I could from storm partner Skeeter, I started to investigate my skin with my roommates magnifying mirror. The fact that I am a product of two parents with bad skin shows all over my face in the form of large pores. Seriously, my mom pores are so large I can sometimes see what's on her mind. I digress. I haven't really been paying that much attention to my pores, so I haven't been buying any pore refining products. All that changed after taking a good and grotesque gander at my pores.

So, the next day at work, during my lunch break I ran across the street to Walgreens. I went strolling through the aisles and the product that waved to me was Neutrogena's Pore Refining Cleanser and Toner. Since I already  had enough cleansers to lend to everyone in my apartment complex 5x over, I decided that I would just test out the toner first. Seriously, I am not joking or trying to blow smoke up your favorite blouse, but as soon as I used it, my pores looked sssoooo much smaller. It was like that jumbo cotton ball was wiping off my pores. All I could say was,  "Is that possible?!" Girly Girls, believe me when I type that my pores shrunk right before my eyes. After that, you know I just had to go back and buy the cleanser, too!!

I used the cleanser this morning in conjunction with the toner and all I was left with were damn near invisible pores and new love of examing my diappearing pores. Take that genetics!!

The Maginificently Disappearing Pores! I think I should take this show on the road, of course it would have to be sponsored my Neutrogena! LOL!

Back to Back....packs

The always lovely Kim over at Accessory Bug sent over the link to the latest catalog of bags. Like always, there is usually a bag or 10 that get me all happy and oohhing like I have just seen the cutest baby in the world. The bag or should I say, bags that did it for me this time were in a shape and style that I haven't really liked since days of being obsessed with watching the movie Clueless on VHS every single day after school and making sure my butt was planted in front of the TV at exactly 7 p.m on Mondays so I wouldn't miss a second of Moesha.

Let me take you back to 1996 and the purse to have backpacks or knapsacks. Take your pick. However, over the past decade, I have not really been to fond of backpacks. All through high school, I never wore a backpack. Luckily, the big totes were in style then, so I would just my books in with my other crap. A backpack didn't grace my back until I got to college and realized that a tote wasn't gonna cut it! Let me get back on track.

So, Kim emailed me the catalog and was instantly in love with these backpack/totes.

I just loved them and I am so shocked that I do, but....I DO!! That yellow is calling my name in about 13 different languages and I have already answered in two. My French is a little off today, eegghh. Anyway, these bags are perfect for spring for us girls who love to tote alot neccessary/unneccessary stuff around in rain, sleet, snow, high water, or heatwave. Roomy, chic, sophisticated, yet fun. Yeah, I might have to allocate some of my income tax to that yellow bag, but not that much since Acccessory Bug has a fabulus little coupon code for 10% off! Just enter wintersale at checkout! Don't cha love it when stores give us codes to help us gather up our wardrobes for upcoming seasons?! I do.

An 80s prom dress converted into a shoe!

I'm not sure if its the fact that I spent part of my day watching 'Dreamgirls" for the 13 zillionth time or that I have been feeling very nostalgic due to the fact that the Boom Network now shows old reruns of Pound Puppies (super score, BTW), but these Christian Louboutin Very Prive instantly snapped me back to the glitzy, over the top, blinding sequined out dresses of the 1980s. There are so many sequins on this shoe...even the heel!! However, I'm not going to front and act like I wouldn't rock this with the right LBD. Its such a party pump, but so damn eighties. Gotta love it!

Karen Voight Fitness

So far this year, I am glowing inside and out, thanks to my vow to change my lifestyle. I have braked on the delicious and juicy burgers and all that southern food that has made me a little curvier than I or the clothing styles that I love would like. So, I have been eating more veggies than a rabbit and found a new BFF in the Karen Voight DVD collection.

Karen Voight is this ridiculously incredible international fitness guru and L.A Times Health columist that has helped more than a few famous celebs get and stay in shape via her customed workouts. Widely considered one of fitness's brightest innovators, Karen blended her years of ballet training and exercise instruction with cutting edge technology to produce a wide variety of fitness videos and DVDs that cover everything from strength and cardiovascular training to yoga and Pilates instruction in a convenient, motivating and above all, effective manner.

Karen released a collection of DVDs affectionately and appropriate titled the The Six Pack, which includes 6 different areas of fitness: Lean Legs & Butt, Yoga Power, Firm Arms & Abs, Pure & Simple Stretch, Slim Toning on a Ball, and my fav, Quick & Slim.

Although I tried all the DVDs and enjoyed the results and speed of each, I was really interested in the Quick and Slim DVD. For two weeks, two times a day, I religiously worked out to the Quick and Slim DVD. The 30 minute workout is filled with cardio to help drop weight by slimming your lower body and toning your upper body. It was basically a full body workout, which is what I was drawn to like a moth to fat burning flame. In two weeks, I dropped almost 10 pounds, 9 pounds to be exact. So, now I am only doing the workout once a day and incorporating one other title everyday...starting this week(weekends off...of course!). I am so stoked to see the results. Just in time for all the spring and summer clothes!

So, if you are looking to get in shape, I REALLY suggest you look into the Karen Voight collection of DVDs and VHS tapes, because her videos are easy to follow and the results do show!

Rubber ballet flats. Marc Jacobs has introduced these rubber ballet flats for the spring, according to the yellow, baby blue, and orange colors. I love the colors, but I can't help but to think question how comfortable feet would be in rubber when its hot outside. That can't feel that good and very sticky. However, they are cute, but not that functional. Hmm, maybe these are for those days of spring showers! Perfect!

Fashion Week F/W 2008...Miss Sixty

Every season, I always look to see what Miss Sixty is throwing to masses, because its one of my fav trendy, funky, and youthful lines. Thankfully, Miss Sixty did not stray from my heart! Although Miss Sixty is known for being mostly denim, they never leave out the pairing ideas for the denim!

V-Day '08...D&G Watch

Just like with past holidays that requires giving gifts, I try to come up with a few options to help you give. However, this shopping guide is to help you come up with things so you can get to dropping hints to that chico magnifico in your life! So, the first thing I pointing you to is something that I want, myself!

This D&G Dolce & Gabbana Peek-A-Boo watch is too cute and would be the perfect casual watch for any igrly chica! I love the varsity style lettering and the heart, plus the stone bevel adds just that touch of class and sass to put a snile on any face!

Tee Time...Tank Theory's Police Brutality

I've been looking for another t-shirt to gather stares and make some guys feel offended, not to mention straight fly! I think I found all that in this Tank Theory Police Brutality Shirt. Tank Theory makes some incredible graphic tees and this one is a prime example. I just love my Tank Theory Armed tee(it's marked 'new' on KarmaLoop, but I got one from 80s purple some time last year), so I'm sure I will love and wear the gold off of this one, too! I can't wait 'til it gets here!
